Ruffle Scarves and Slippers

Ruffle Scarves and Slippers

I am still working toward my up coming show. I have been making some short ruffle scarves that should work well inside winter coats. I use a template to get the proportions right and have them shrink to the right size. You can see the template below the scarf below and you can see how much it shrank.

Here are the 3 I have done. In the first one you can see the ruffles and then all rolled up looking like hand weights.

I also taught a slipper class last week end. I couldn’t find my sample s so had to quickly make a couple. I made little boots for my grandson. her they are stuffed with plastic and covered in some pantyhose ready for the washer and the finished pair.

I tried the heart shaped template. It was on the Forum but I can’t find it right now.

They are not fulled enough but I needed to stop to have them dry in time. It was good really because they could feel the difference between Fynn’s fulled slippers and mine. I will stuff them and put them through the washer. I am sorry to say I forgot to take any pictures at the class.

And lastly another inspiration picture. The leaves are now starting to fall so now the ground and the trees  match and it is time to play in the leaves.

  1. Hi Ann
Your works look great.I loved the small boots for your grandson, and how happy he looks among all those falling leaves.Due to my work (now I am retired since long ago) I had to visit Sweden many times a year and I have good rememberings from walking through the parks with all yellow and red small leaves under my feet.I wish you all the success for the coming show.
    Best regards
    Irene Maria

  2. The scarves and slippers look good. I haven’t tried the heart shaped resist for slippers but I may just have to make some. They look comfortable. Fynn looks very happy in the leaves, cute as a button.

    1. Thanks Ruth, he is a cutie pie. The resist was easy to work with. I think I may try the one with ears
for my husband who doesn’t like them without a back.

  3. The green stripey slippers are great Ann! And the scarves are sure to be a hit at the upcoming show – I like them all – wonderful colours for winter.

I’ve been admiring all the beautiful colours in the fallen leaves – especially on a day like today when they have the weak, golden sun on them.
That’s a sweet photo of Fynn!

  4. Nice scarves, cute display! Are you putting slippers through the washer as a fulling method? How long do you wash, or spin? How can you control the shrinkage? As you may guess, i just made a pair of slippers which could use more fulling…;-))

    1. Thanks. The slippers are just about done they need hardening more than shrinking. I stuffed them as tight as I could and put them in the nylon then put it through a regular wash with a regular load. they didn’t shrink at all. not sure about the adult ones I think I will pack the toe part and rap the heal around it and put it in the nylon.

  5. You’ve been busy Ann. Everything looks great. I’m sure it will all sell quickly. I love the boots for Flynn. He’s a doll! They are so much fun. I’m missing mine.

  6. I love those colours of Fynn’s boots, Ann 🙂 The other slippers are nice too. I imagine a few people will get a surprise when they unroll the scarves and see the real shape!
