A Demo and Coffee Press Cozies

A Demo and Coffee Press Cozies

This last week I helped out at a demo at the Ottawa Valley Weavers’ and Spinners’ Guild. A women’s group had asked for a tour and demo.

Alison is explaining how a spinning wheel works

Kathleen is talking about he guild and Sam is waiting to talk about fiber prep. I made a felt display on the table. I chatted about felt and demonstrated the drop spindle.

I also made some more coffee press cozies. Those are sheep not fallen clouds, LOL

And more cup cozy sleeves. That should be enough now.

  1. You have been busy! The cosies have pretty designs (and they are obviously sheep, not clouds, when the photo is enlarged). I like the tea cosy layout – will you show it to us when it’s finished?

  2. Glad to know you’re helping the fibre community out, Ann! Your felting demonstration reminds me of one guild member looking at some wool I’d bought at an event, she looked at it and said, “What lovely fibre you bought; are you going to spin it, or do something dreadful with it, like felt it?” 😀 I hope everyone in your corner of the world was properly impressed by felting 🙂

    1. I like doing demo’s, you meet lots of great people. I think I have them re-educated about felt. It is an ongoing battle especially in the fiber groups on line. I find I am saying ” crappy wool makes crappy felt” quite often.

    1. Thanks Karen, the black ones were very hard to get a picture of. The black sucks in the light and the silk reflects it. they are much nicer in person. Now for the hardest part, pricing everything.

  3. You have been busy Ann. I need to make more cup cozies and phone sleeves but still haven’t done it. Writing classes sure takes too much time. It is interesting to explain felt to people but glad you’re spreading the word 🙂

    1. Thank you Ruth, writing takes a lot of time and energy. I have 2 flowers done now. I need to do more. I like talking to people about felt.

  4. Busy lady! It’s fun to explain felt to non fellers. :-). The coffee press cozies are cute.

We'd love to hear your thoughts!
