March Stitch Page and a Quiz

March Stitch Page and a Quiz

My March stitch page was done in time. I did the last thing on March 31. After doing February as a Valentine’s theme I thought I would do March as a St Patrick’s Day theme. so having an odd sense of humour I decided on green threads on an orange background. I am not sure which side of that( orange or green) would care the most. but after looking at symbols for St Pat’s I decided to give up on that idea and look for other March symbols.  March has a lot going on. This is where the quiz comes in. I am not going to tell you what each thing represents as we go. You have to guess at the end. I will make a bit of a break in the post and then put the answers and you can see how many you got right.

I don’t have as many progress pictures as I might as I do most of it out and about. I did start with a shamrock. They are quite easy as they are 3 harts and a stem.

Before I remembered to take a picture I also added this dagger. I knew I bought silvery thread for a reason other than it was pretty.

Then 2 more important days were added.

Then there is this one that is so important to remember for all our struggles past and future. With a nod to my LBGTQ friends

This last symbol is for some great kids I drive to school. It didn’t turn out quite as I wanted but it was a new stitch for me.

The last thing is not a symbol. It was just a flower that popped up in my FB news feed and I decided to try it. It was easy and effective.

Here is the whole thing, followed by a numbered picture for your guesses.

  1. Shamrock for St Patrick’s Day
  2. A Dagger for the Ides of March( Beware!)

  4. The symbol for women for International Women’s Day
  5. Easter egg for Easter and spring fertility

How many did you get right?

    1. Thanks, I was really happy with the way the dagger turned out
I looked up what the special days were for March. I had forgotten about Pi day. There were a lot of very silly days too, like pillow fight day.

  1. Well I got the shamrock for St Pat, and Pi but had no idea what that was for, except that it’s my cat’s name and I couldn’t expect you to know that. I did get the Easter egg but that was about it.
My favourite bits were the knife and the thistle – at least I assume that that is what it is?
What do we get for April then – lots of lambs, showers, and blossom?
    Ann

    1. I had for gotten about pi(e) day. A good name for a Cat. I am not sure is a thistle with those little leaves but it was fun to make. I am still deciding on April. So far only a flower done. I guess I better get a move on.

  2. Nice work, I love embroidery. I only got the obvious ones, not very worldly of me 😎☘️

  3. I did pretty good, but didn’t get the dagger until I saw the results. Makes me upset with myself, as I know the “Ides of March” well thanks to Julius Caesar. It’s also Pi(e) day around our area. We have a local pie 🥧 company that celebrates Pi Day. As a math geek I think it’s a cool reason to celebrate. Brian went to get me a piece of Cherry pie, and they were all out, so he ordered a whole pie for the 15th. It was delicious.😋

Thanks Anne. Now, I need to figure out what I will write about in my upcoming post. 😳

  4. I did not know that Down’s Syndrome Awareness Day have a symbol. All of the others I knew. As you say March is a full month.

  5. A great page and a great quiz Ann. Of course I had to know St Patrick’s day (seeing that I am Irish after all!) Easter, the ides. I recognized the symbol for Pi but did not know there was a Pie day. The other two were also part of my education.
    Super addition to your book!

  6. Great page for your book Ann. I got four out of six, somehow missing the women’s day symbol and I didn’t know Downs Syndrome had an awareness symbol. I think my favorite is the dagger and the flower, good job on the stitching.

We'd love to hear your thoughts!
