April round up.

April round up.

April is now gone and May will hopefully bring more sun and more flowers.

I started the month with some felt stars. It was a fun little project and might work for a fast free workshop. Maybe at a guild social. You can read about how I made them here

wool and silk felted stars. Green and Yellow

Next was an eyeglasses holder for beside my bed. It was an interesting project with some strange wool. Here it is hanging up beside my bed. I didn’t realise how dusty the bookcase was until I took a picture. Then I had to dust and take it again. The things I do for our followers. LOL

I taught 2 workshops this month, Nunofelt Scarf and  Felt Birdhouse/Feeder workshop. We had a lot of fun. Here are the ladies with their finished scarves. Sorry, I forgot to get a group shot.

And the finished Birdhouse/feeders.

After teaching I decided to treat myself to a Workshop. I signed up for Helene’s Felt Spiral Workshop. I really enjoyed making my spiral. I learned a lot along the way. It is wonderful to see how different people do things. It would be wonderful if we all lived close enough to get together regularly.

I am full of ideas for more spirals now.

purple spiral movie

I couldn’t get the movie to work so here is a still.

With April finished I have another completed page for my slow stitch collection.  I decided to include a little needle felting this time. I included some flowers but also the solar eclipse we had here, a cloud and rain because we have had a lot of April showers and my purple umbrella to keep me dry. I really do have a purple umbrella. I added the Autism Awareness infinity symbol because it is autism awareness month.  Then I was left with an empty spot at the bottom and I couldn’t figure out what to put there. I did a special days in April search and on the last day of the month, I was reminded of the first day of the month and added the fake glasses nose and moustache for April Fools.

a piece on hand made felt with needle felt and stitched pictures for the month of April

and lastly, because it is spring this last week we have started having lambs.

Lambs and moms in a group pen

And these are my current bottle babies. Sven( thanks to Jan for the name) who no one would claim. He is doing a good imitation of a Valies Black Nose with his black nose and knees.  And Henna whose mother hates her( probably because she is really good at yelling at the top of her lungs for no reason) Once they are both drinking well and down one feeding per day ( they are on 5 times a day right now) they will go live in a lambing pen until they are a little bigger then they can join a group.

  1. Wow – What a productive month! Nice to see your glasses case in action – good idea. Your finished April embroidery is lovely – it’s a sunny, happy piece – and like the detail of the rain falling on the umbrella 🙂

The bottle babies are beautiful but must be tiring for you with all the feeding.

    1. Thanks Lyn. It does look like more when you write it all down. Lambs do sleep overnight. My hubby is up early so does the first one of the day and the last is 10-11 with my son who stays up late. So It all works out in the end.

  2. Crikey Ann! How long are you going to have to feed those two gorgeous lambs 5 times each? I assume that that means you’ve got to get up in the middle of the night to do at least one feed.
Do sheep often refuse to accept their lamb when it’s born?
    Your spiral does look good.
I love the April page especially the umbrella and shower and the glasses and moustache – in fact all of it. Now I wonder what’s coming for May – May blossom perhaps. I assume you have hawthorns over there? Here, hopefully, we’ll be “casting a clout” very soon, though just at the moment it’s a bit too fresh for that.

    1. The seep do sleep overnight. so early morning to late night between 3 of us. They should go down to 4 times a day in a week or so. Sheep are not always the brightest of creatures. sometimes they just don’t seem to understand they had 2 or 3,or a first time mom. If we get them into lambing pen fast enough they figure it out. But sometimes lambs are born when we are looking the other way.
Thanks, the spiral was a great workshop. I haven’t started May yet. I better get started soon.

  3. I always love to see the lambs in the spring but agree with Ann B. that they seem like a lot of work. Your April page is great, it fits the bill perfectly. And the April fools glasses and mustache is a perfect addition.

  4. Baby lambs are just the cutest little bundles of energy, makes my heart go soft! I love your embroidery too, a nicely filled page.
I’m glad that you enjoyed the spiral class, and your spiral looks great. I did the class too some time ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it too.

    1. Lambs are a lot of fun. They have springs in their toes. Thanks the little pages have been fun so far. The spiral was a lot of fun and now I want to do some more.

  5. A very productive month on all fronts Ann. Love your various productions complete with umbrella & of course the lambs are just soooo cute.

  6. Ann, you achieved so much during April! And every one turned out beautifully. Love your very thoughtful picture for April too and thank you for being such a great student on the spiral course. Loved having you there!
As for your lambs they are just so huggable and gorgeous. Spring has finally arrived and summer isn’t too far away!
