Bubble Hat

Bubble Hat

Last time I showed you a bubble hat I was making http://wp.me/p1WEqk-2za after it was felted it looked like this

purple before bubbles

and the inside like this

purple before bubbles inside

Next I added the bubbles using felt balls for the ones that stay in and marbles for the one I will cut.

Then I cut the bubbles and you can leave them but I stretched them to so more of the colour inside the bubbles.

I didn’t get a picture of it finished . I thought I had but it was one when 2 hats had the bubbles but where not cut. It will give you an idea.

If I can I will take a picture of them at the show today and edit it in. They may already be sold, I can’t remember.  I know I sold some of the bubble hats.

I did just manage to get a picture of the hat. is sold about 1/2 hour later.

    1. Thanks Ruth. I like playing with bubbles. You can see a bubble cuff in one of the new pictures on the post. I did update the post and it has two pictures of the finished hat.

  1. wonderfulk hats. I’m sure you’ll sell them both. At what stage did you make bubbles >_ from what I see I assume it was after fulling. How did you shape the hat in the end? In the future I must try to make a hat too.

    1. Thank you Nada. I add them after fulling. I add a few then try it on and add bubbles until its the right size. I did update the post and it has a picture of the finished hat

  2. Great hats Ann! I love the bubble one. It’s fun to create such fun things. I hope you get another pic before you sell it! Hats are on my list as well.

  3. Adding the ‘bubbles’ gives the hat such a lovely shape – I’m not surprised it sold so quickly – it’s gorgeous.

  4. When you get a chance would you please give us step by step instructions on adding the bubbles and felting them in – Thank you – Frances

    1. Frances they are not felted in. the wool is stretched around the felt ball or marble while the hat is still wet. They have elastics around the bases. I use elastics for horse tail and main braiding. you have to get them on really tight.

  5. Hi Ann I am new at felting and wanted to ask how you added the “bubbles” to the hat after the hat was felted? Did you add them before you fulled the hat.

I love thee bubble affect and thought your hats were great.

  6. Wow, Zed, your bubble hats are just so very beautiful… Love them..great colors. Are they all wool or do they have some Nuno in them.. I will look forward to see photos of the show.

    1. Thanks Judy, all the bubble hats I have right now are wool. I will need to make some more for my next show. show pictures will be my next post. (Ann not Zed 🙂 )

  7. Hello Ann. So sorry about the name mix up. Sometimes I get so confused with the “forum” names. Your hats are gorgeous Ann. I look forward to see more of your work.
