Getting things ready for the Sale and Exhibition and class.

First, there are still a couple of days to sign up for the 3D multi-part resist workshop. It starts on the 17th, so hurry if you want to join us. https://feltingandfiberstudio.com/classes/3d-multi-part-resist/

On November 1 and 2 is our guild’s Annual Sale and Exhibition. https://www.ovwsg.com/sale/ Or her on Facebook FB Event The guild runs a booth for people who don’t have enough things to have their own booth. I have been getting my things ready for the booth.

I have a few needle books from several years ago. I had to check the tags, replacing some and adding price stickers. They have 4 needle pages, 2 pouches, 2 pins, 1 needle, on thread storage card, and one needle threader.

I also have some scissors cases with scissors. These are great little scissors, I like the big handles so you’re not tight to get your fingers in or out of.

And there are the sheep keychains. I told you about them here. https://feltingandfiberstudio.com/2025/09/13/this-and-that-5/

I had to iron their ears as they needed flattening. I thought I might need hairspray, but I didn’t.

I stamped the back of their cards

I put them into their plastic. I need to finish that. I think I need to get some double-sided tape to keep them centred in the bags. And for some, I may resize their bags.

I may put the other things in plastic, too. Do you think it would look more professional?

I still have to make felted soap. That is on the to-do list. But now I am out of time for today.

  1. You have some lovely things to sell Ann. I particularly like the needle books a because of their great and varied designs.

Plastic is tricky. On the one hand it keeps things clean & may look more professional but on the other some people understandably don’t like the waste and with felt, people love to touch it. On balance I’d vote no.

I hope the felted soaps go well and you have lots of sales at your annual event.

    1. Hmm your right about the tactile part. On the other hand they are a quick and easy present and people want to keep them nice. It is a dilemma. The soap usually goes fairly well. and any leftovers do well at the Farmers Market Christmas.

  2. Agree with Lindsay – the plastic does make items look more inviting but many people buy felt because of the feel of it. However, the key chains are an exception and the plastic is a good idea for them.
All your items are attractive and are small enough to be affordable to buyers. Have you thought about making some signage encouraging people to think about buying Christmas gifts? Buyers might look at a key ring and think it’s lovely but they don’t need a key ring – but given a nudge about buying for someone else and you could have a sale.

  3. I’m inclined to agree with Lyn and Lindsay, the bags, while looking more professional, stop potential buyers from being delighted with the feel of felt. They also somewhat disguise what’s inside the needle and the scissors cases, which is also a selling point with them, and they look so good they are bound to leap off the sales table.
Yes do keep the key rings in their bags to stop them flapping around. One thought regarding them, try labelling them as “Bag Charms” – no I suppose that should be “Purse Charms” on your side of the pond. If you have a look at Google Images under either term you’ll see why. Sheepy key rings are likely to get messed up pretty quickly if kept inside a bag, but attached to the outside will really look cute, and your sheep really deserve to be seen. (Having stolen your idea for my Norwegian Gnomes selling at the Museum Shop, I’m going to have to tell them about relabelling.)
    Good luck with the sales.
    Ann

    1. With the sheep I thought I wouldn’t label them as anything in particular. You are right though, bag charms are very popular so maybe I will. Bag works well sometimes we call purses bags and also backpacks and project bags. I want to see a picture of the gnomes. They sound ….charming. LOL

  4. I agree with everyone else about the plastic. And giving things multiple purposes on signage is a great idea. The sheep would look great on kid’s backpacks too. The more ways that people can use them the better 😁

    1. Yes I think I will make a sign. I was trying to figure out how to attach a label. I was thinking of putting the scissors on the back side of the bags so they could be seen. I am still undecided about the bags. Still thinking.

  5. Ann, you have made such lovely things to sell, so many very desirable little gifts that would make any recipient very happy. I wish I could attend your fair!

We would love to hear your thoughts!
