Finishing and Displaying the Shepherdess and Sheep.

Finishing and Displaying the Shepherdess and Sheep.

It is time to finish and get it all together.

You may remember I had to redo the Shepherdess’ cloak. I didn’t like the way the hood on the one peice cloak fit, so I made another one making the body and hood separately.

I sewed the hood to the cloak and it looked much better but, naturally, I did not take a picture of that. I immediately moved on the decorating the cloak. I thought if she had multicoloured sheep she would want to show that off on her cloak and so I decided to add some nice fuzz to her cloak to help her show it off and keep warm.

Next, the shepherdess needed some hair, up to now she has been bald. It’s a look that works for some but I thought she would be cold or might get sunburn so she needed some hair.

Very quickly she became a lovely brunette with some naturally coloured Teeswater.

trying on her new cloak (ignore the messy background, there is no time for housework when cloaks must be made.)

Time to be put together. Off to the guild studio for a photoshoot.

And lastly, they got installed at the gallery for the guild show. Jan will have more pictures on Saturday. I stole these from a guild post she made because I haven’t made it to the show yet. Thanks to Lianne for giving them some grass to stand on.

You may think this is the end but there is more. Someone’s Dragon raided my flock

She says he is just lonely but he looks a little hungry to me.

  1. Oh Ann these are amazing. Your cloak sits so well on your shepherdess complete with colourful trim. But it is the sheep that have captured my heart….they are so cute.

I think they are going to melt everyone’s heart.

Maybe dragon is just trying to keep them warm whilst guarding them.

    Good luck with the show

  2. Wonderful. That cloak looks so warm and comfortable and the sheep are indeed colourfully cute.
I think that dragon was lonely up there all on his own, but the sheep will also be lonely without her flock mates, perhaps Jan should suggest he “borrows” one of the blue ones to keep them both company.
I’m sure they will all be a great success when the Exhibition opens, and perhaps it is as well that they are inside that cabinet otherwise you might find further rustlers around.

    1. Thanks. More raiding! Jan does like Vikings and their textiles. I did request they be locked up as I thought they might be irresistible so sheep rustlers.

  3. Fabulous display: the shepherdess looks quite magical in her wool-trimmed cloak and the sheep are totally adorable. Hmmmm…the dragon could be lonely or just peckish. I think I’d give it a teddy bear and rescue that sheep sharpish!

  4. Absolutely fabulous Ann. I love it all, the multi coloured sheep are the business, and the shepherdess is beautiful. I love the multicolour trim on the cloak. Fabulous.

  5. they look Great!!! it was fun to watch them develop. i am sure Dragon is only lonly (He is an Ice Dragon so he might be cold and want to warm up his hands in a nice warm looking fleece?) the rest of the flock and the shepperdess are just below, watching, so i am shure his intentions are honerable. I will get back to work on your other project shortly, just need to finish my blog for tomorow first!!

    1. Well I am going to have to take your word that he is not looking for a sheepsicle. I think people will think it is funny so all is good. You keep calling it my project . It was my idea but it is our project.

  6. Ann,
How did that dragon get there? lol. I think your Shepherdess, her dress and cloak with hood, and that colorful flock are my favorite thing you’ve made so far. My comments have not been posting well, but I thought your shepherdess without hair, reminded me of Maria in the “Sound of Music”. I could almost hear 🎼 “the hills are alive…” I agree she needed some hair, and those natural locks (my old natural color 😆) are perfect. The fun photos of her interacting with her sheep are so much fun. You can see the love she has for her flock. Those little sheep in their colorful lock coats are precious. I love everything about your grouping.

Congratulations to you, and your current guild members – on a 75th Anniversary Celebration to be very proud of.

  7. Great job! Love the sheep and shepherd. (Also the pesky dragon.) Glad they are safely protected from wandering hands and the urge to adopt them. Terrific work.
