June’s page is finished

June’s page is finished

My June page is done.  I started late but once the mood hit, it didn’t take long to do. It’s not a very complicated one but June is a busy month. I work best against a deadline.

a pink piece of felt with stitching and needle felt

There is a birthday cake for my birthday. I hear I share June with several other blog members. It looks like grey icing and a grey candle but they are purple in person.  DAD is for Father’s Day.  It is International UFO Month so I had to have a cute little alien. International Bicycle Day is this month and it is International Blood Donor Month.

I drew out the different pictures on some washaway stabiliser. It worked well, except for the blood drop as you can see it looks fine here

But when I washed away the stabiliser it looked like this.

The first thing I tried was needling the felt to move it back into place. it works well a lot of the time when things need realigning.  but that didn’t work.  So, I used more of the red thread to fill in.  I thought it might make the shape funny but it worked great.

I picked some grey for July. It’s neutral so it can take anything. I may just do abstract stitching but I haven’t decided yet. grey felt

  1. Another month over – doesn’t time fly when you’re enjoying yourself – or in my case anyway. I liked your June page, especially the little alien in its flying saucer and your lovely birthday cake – was it good, the original that is?
Apart from Father’s Day (which I think was originally dreamed up by a greetings card manufacturer) I wasn’t aware of the other special events in June.
A grey background for July will enable the colours of whatever you add to it to really stand out. Looking forward to seeing it. (but not just yet!)

    1. Thanks Ann. My cake was good. It was cheese cake. I agree with you about the special days the greeting card companies have tried to get us exited about. Hallmark Holidays. I am hoping for lots of colour for July.

  2. Happy belated birthday, Ann! I hope it was a fun one 🙂

As for that blood drop… I had to laugh when I saw it as I just had a nose bleed from all the nose blowing I’ve been doing (due to catching the flu)!

    1. I had a great birthday with cheese cake. Oh dear you need to moisturize your nose. No bleeding on the yarn or the fibre. I hope you feel better soon.

  3. I do like you June page Ann. I hope that you did have a real cake for your birthday too, and that it was delicious. Loving the UFO, i did not know that there is a day for UFOs!

  4. Another great page Ann, thanks for the birthday cake 😉 It’s great to be learning all these things like International UFO month, who knew. Your little alien is adorable.

  5. Belated birthday wishes Ann! Yes, I’m a June – born on American Flag Day, June 14. This year it fell on Friday, so my requested gift was a weekend at home, happily working on my crafts. I enjoyed seeing your little alien, as we watch “The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch” on the History Channel every summer. I don’t wear a tin foil hat, and I’ve yet to visit Area 51, but I’m sure we are aliens too! 🤔Then, there’s your bicycle for the Tour de France 🚴🏻 🥰 I hope your cake was delicious like mine. Your blood drop 🩸 made me chuckle, as I had a massive draw the other day, after chest pains took me to the ER. It wasn’t a heart attack, so that was good news – but boy did they take enough of it!

To everyone reading this, drink lots of fluids! The higher than normal temperatures are causing dehydration, especially for those of us over a certain age…😊

    1. Happy birthday, I hope you got cake too. I am quite sure we can not be the only beings in the whole universe. Seems to be against the odds. I haven’t heard of that movie, I had to look it up. You have to take care of yourself , especially in the heat.

  6. Wishing you a belated happy birthday Ann.
Your little alien is absolutely gorgeous. It is lovely that you covered all the month’s main events and you did a super job repairing the drop of blood. Your book is coming along very nicely.
