Wet felted wallhanging
This is a wet felted wall hanging, it was made for a customer order. She wanted something modern but with not too many colours.
So I started with wool yarn to make the design.
As I started the process, I was inspired and I knew it will look great.
Than I filled with wet coloured wool and than covered with layers of wool.
The felting process take about 3 days of hard work for me.
The customer was very pleased. I hope you enjoy my work!

I just love Ildi’s work and her colour combinations. She had such patience! I’d love her to coe to the UK and do workshops. I have only made one picture using outlines (it was of bars of music) and I never got my lines to stay straight like hers do!

It’s beautiful! What is the bottom layer under the yarn drawing- light color wool? And did you place a solid color of wool over the top too before wet Felting- or was that the bottom flipped over in the pictures? It is so clear and precise! Thank you for sharing!
It’s grey wool,and after I finished the design,I used white wool for covering the design

Ildi, as so many have said above, your piece is fabulous. The design with its muted colours is simple yet very complex. The viewer is drawn in, seeing something different every time.
Sketching your design & then working it in reverse is quite a challenge. Do you always work like this?
You say it took you 3 days – wow. It must have been very heavy with the soapy water, you must have strong arms 🤪. What size is the finished piece and the thickness?

It’s doesn’t have a name,only it’s a wet felting technique.the size is about 1,70cm/160cm.the thickness is 1cm.thank you again for your kind words..
