Autumn is always so busy

Autumn is always so busy

Autumn seems to be crazy this year. I imagine it is crazy every year; I just forget how busy it is and schedule way too much to do. Two weeks ago I did a nunofelt class. So dying silk blank was necessary. This weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving, so our last market for the regular season. It will be busy, as everyone wants goodies for Thanksgiving and to stock up to get them to the Christmas shows in mid-November. I booked a nuno scarf class for later this month, the first full week in November is our guild sale,  and then there is getting ready for the Christmas market sales. I think there is something else too. Oh yes, Microsoft Publisher is going to stop working, so I had to convert all those files to PDFs so I may be able to open them somewhere else.

Oh dear, it sounds like I am complaining, but I am not really. I prefer to be busy rather than not, but it does sneak up on you.

Anyway, what it means is I am mostly doing some finishing work and more soap. Nothing very exciting. Here are some pictures of small spirals I made. They are waiting for the grommet kit so I can add key chain ends to them, and I haven’t decided if I will add a little curly lock to the other end yet. Sorry, these are a bit raw. They were hanging to dry.

This is a screenshot of the grommet kit, as I don’t have them yet. It says they will be here tomorrow. I thought I had some, but they were odd little things for paper.

I made some more lantern covers. They have to have thier bottom ribbons, and my tag added to them. I would like to make some more, but I may be out of time.

And there is soap to make. I haven’t done that, so you can see an old picture.

P.S.

I went to my studio Sunday to do some finishing work. And………. ended up making 3 more simple covers. They are still wet, so no pictures yet. The two leaves are to add to the short white cover in the picture above.

  1. So … what did you do in your spare time? 🙂

Busy is an understatement – what you’ve achieved is miraculous!
Your mini spirals look great. It was worth persevering when you first had the idea of making them for key chains.
What a glorious collection of lantern covers! Are you needle felting the leaves to the white one?

    1. Thanks, I always say when we have 5 spare min we find an hours worth of work for it.
thanks I hope the key chains go well. the Grommets are supposed to be here today.
Yes i am going to needle felt the leaves on. I will shape them a bit first. I like it with out but a couple of people asked me what it was. Some 3D leaves should solve that problem.

  2. Busy, busy, busy. Lots of lovely stuff Ann
I was very annoyed when I found out that Microsoft was pulling Publisher, which I use a lot. I really wish they would stop “improving” things, which is really a euphemism for getting more money out of us. My tame computer man solved my Publisher problem by giving me an earlier version, which still works and has a lot of the attributes which the later version dropped, so I’m very happy with it.
Hope all your sales and markets go well.
    Ann

    1. Busy is better then board. I agree stop “improving” things. I guess that’s how the software guys stay employed. I wish I had an old hard copy. If I ever get a new laptop( fingers crossed it’s soon), I will put Libra Office on it and i am told Canva is good. I don’t need AI to type ingredients on to a return address template, or make a simple sign. I guess we can’t stop “progress”

We would love to hear your thoughts!
