A Little Light-up Lantern
A while ago, I picked up a few little hanging displays.
I thought a little light-up sphere would be a fun thing to put in one.
I have a really small Tupperware lid that I used to draw around for a circle. It’s about 2 inches(25 mm) across. Then I enlarged it. I drew the size of the fake candle in the middle just to see the size relationship.
I used some wool I had with sparkle in it. It is called Moss from World of Wools’ Glitzy collection. I did one thin layer as I want he light to show through. I am surprised at how well the sparkle shows in the picture.
Once it started to shrink, I popped the resist out. You can see it hasn’t shrunk much yet. I cut a fairly large hole as I want to put the fake candle inside.
I just kept going until I was at this size
It fits the holder just fine. It is still wet here. I had to take it home and stuff it so it could dry in the right shape. And now I’ve come to writing about it, I can’t find what I did with it. I will search for it some more and hopefully find it for some pictures with the light inside before I have to publish this in a few days

You have certainly worked small here Ann and the glitzy fibre has certainly added the sparkle you wanted.
Does the glitzy sphere light up as expected?
Thanks. it is small, it just fit the smaller candle in it. I have to find it and try it in the dark. I really don’t know where I put it.
The glitz is surprisingly glitzy and makes the wool very pretty.
It would seem you have joined the ‘now-where-did-I-put-that?’ club.
Would love to see it lit up … when you can find it 🙂
Thanks, yes I am sure it is somewhere very safe.
I feel for you not being able to find it. I wonder if Jan’s Miss Mer has had a hand in its disappearance!
I do hope it comes to light (pardon the pun, it wasn’t intended) as we’d all like to see it lit up.
Ann
Hmm I hadn’t thought of that. Maybe she needed some light in her cave?
Great idea for your hanging lanterns. The wool is very glitzy and should look great with the candle lit. I hope you find it quickly and Jan’s Miss Mer (as the other Ann suggested) didn’t steal it for a hat. 😉
I don’t know that it would make a very good hat, but maybe to light her way?
Beautiful, love the size. A wondrous colour too, I imagine a light through it will be lovely.
thank you Marie, I hope to find them soon and show them to you lit up.
