Progress Made
I am making some progress. I refelted the cut diamonds
They are now in a bag waiting for me to work on the diamond project.
I did more work on sheep and shepherdess.
Jan made me a wire shape or the shepherdess for me. Then I wrapped it in some waste wool and used a felt ball for the head. than wrapped that in Corriedale.
Once I added wool it was not stable enough to stand. So I asked Jan about adding a piece of wire front and back to stabilizers. so she took it and started working on it. We added a ball in the bottom but then I decided she was too tall for the sheep I was making, and she cut the ball in half and squashed her down. Jan added a snail tail that stabilises her well. It will be covered by her cloak.
I have been putting sheep together. I make the parts separately. Long snake to cut into leggings and ovals for heads. I made some flat pieces in the 3 colours for the ears. I cut them out but I want to felt them some more.
After I add the ears to the sheep I will add the curls like the orange sheep on the right. I also need to make some clothes for the shepherdess. I think she will be a brunette but I don’t think she will get a face.
Lastly for today, is why felting small things and holding them with your fingers and talking to people is not a good combination.

Ouch! Bet the air was a bit blue. You need some of Jan’s tools for holding down bits while you’re poking them. I have some long fine tweezers, which I usually remember to use once I’ve stabbed myself. They are useful, but I never think of them until I’ve had a sharp reminder.
Your little sheep are going to look great. Will they all be different colours? Are you making some sort of diorama for the shepherdess and her flock, or did I miss an earlier mention of what you are making them for? Questions, questions. ❓❓
Those scissors look interesting. I’ve only seen large shears that shape before. Are they Fiskars? More questions.

It was a bit blue. LOL. I have the same tools as Jan but like you I need a sharp reminder once and a while. our guild has an exhibition at the local textile museum to celebrate our 75. It’s a retrospective/ then and now sort of thing. I am making a flock of sheep( they will be many colours) and a shepherdess for it and a hat I made for the 65th anniversary. No Diorama for them though. I didn’t start soon enough. Yes these are Fiskars. the little grey thing on the handle can be moved to lock them open for seam ripping. I like that it keeps you hand up off whatever you are cutting.
Ouch poor finger. I’m surte that Jan demonstrated some tools to prevent/minimise such incidents?!
Love those sheep, a flock of them will look wonderful, and I’m looking forward to it.
Thanks Marie, I do have tools, I just forget to use them.
Ann your flock looks promising and with a cloaked shepherdess too….looking forward to seeing the completed herd.
Ouch….we’ve all been there 🤪 hope it isn’t too sore for too long.
Not seen those scissors before….interesting.
Xx
Thank you, some have their wool now . some clothes for the shepherdess but I have to remake her coat. I don’t like the way it turned out. the scissors are very cool and easy to use.
All kinds of projects on the go. Did you get August’s stitched page completed? I can’t remember seeing it but I could have forgotten. I love your little sheep and the shepherdess looks promising. Sorry about the finger!
yes, to many it seems. the August page is not done. I have the pictures drawn out on solvi but haven’t had any time. I will need to do it once the sheep are done.
Ouch, Ann! My fingers twitch in sympathy for yours… Loving the tiny sheep, looking forward to seeing them completed! Tell me the curls you’re adding are all psychedelic colours 😀
Thanks, it is healing up well, It doesn’t hurt anymore. Yes the sheep are lots of different colours. I am calling it dyed in the wool.
Eeek, hope your finger has mended at this stage Ann. You have been busy and your project is coming along beautifully. Looking forward to the next post.

Ouch. I know what that feels like!
I think your shepherdess is going to be lovely. She has a dance like motion that is joyous. I can’t wait to see what she becomes. It’s interesting to hear about the underlying shapes that make up a sheep. I may try my hand at making a sheep ornament for our Christmas tree.
