Next is a Spring Tree.
I have been thinking about my spring tree for the 2nd quarter challenge. I have decided I will not try to make my tree a real tree but an imagined one. That will give me more scope to play. I did some thinking and the best way to show flowers will be to do a close-up of a branch. I did some sketching on my pad for that. I am not a very good drawer but I think it’s not a bad branch.
I’ve decided I want some long, hanging flowers.
Next, it was off to the internet to look at long, hanging flowers. I think I know how I want to do them.
Then I had to have a good rummage to find the felt I used last time. How do things become lost so quickly? Well, I know really, I don’t put things away. 🙂 I did find it, and some felt I had forgotten about. I will try not to lose it again. It is just a white rectangle at the moment. I am trying to decide if I leave it that way or if I felt it light blue for the sky. I am not sure.
That’s as far as I am at the moment. We are working on clearing things that don’t belong out of my studio. I need to rearrange in the house, to get another piece out. Another job for the list.

The long hanging flowers is a lovely idea – so colourful and with plenty of scope for imaginative representation.
Thanks Lyn. I have some ideas on what I will do but I think some experimenting my have to happen first.
You’ve got some good ideas there Ann. I would think that a coloured sky would be better, but I suppose it doesn’t have to be blue – especially if that wouldn’t go with whatever colour your fantasy flowers are going to be. If your flowers are blue/purple like the wisteria, they might look good against a sunset type sky for instance.
I know what you mean about not being able to find something because you hadn’t actually put it away properly. I hate putting things away, I can remember as a child I would open my toy cupboard door, throw something in and shut it again quickly before everything fell out! I’m a little bit more organised now, but not much more.
Can’t wait for the next episode.
Ann.
Yes colour is better then the white I think. we are a family of pilers and are terrible at putting things away. Seems “pilers” is not a word. My husband suggests: pile technicians
Looks like some good planning is going into the spring tree process. I think your sketches are wonderful and the branch idea is a good way to represent the spring hanging flowers. Have you decided on the color of your flowers? You could use a very pale color in the sky that is opposite/contrasting to the flower color choice. I have found that I like imaginative skies as it doesn’t always have to be blue.
I am thinking I might use white paper as trunks for my spring tree. That’s on my to do list.
You’re off to a great start Ann. I am thinking about our zoom yesterday, and Antje’s interesting papers. I might have to, have a go at the Spanish Moss trees we saw. 😉 If you need some fibers without the searching, just ask. I have way more than I can use in this lifetime.
Capi
Thanks Capri, I think we all have more fibre than you can shake a stick at. For someone who doesn’t knit or weave I have a lot of yarn.
This will be lovely Ann, looking forward to seeing your design come to fruition.
Thanks Marie
