Fourth Quarter Challenge 2019 Colourscapes
This challenge is inspired by our trip to Mottisfont Abbey where Kaffe Fassett exhibited over 70 glorious items including furniture fabric, clothing and wall hangings.
“I create in palettes of colour because that is my main obsession.” Kaffe Fassett
We were allowed to take photographs of Kaffe’s work at the exhibition – this is one of his wall hangings …
…and a close up of another.
Please click on the link below, scroll down a little, and you will come to a very short video of Kaffe Fassett talking about and showing some of his work.

So this quarter’s challenge is to make a “colourscape” using whatever fibre media you enjoy working with. It can be realistic or abstract and any shape or form.
Go wild with this challenge and be as free as you like!
We often use our photos to inspire us, so we’d like to share some with you.
Chihuly Glass installation at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, US
Bar top in a hotel in Las Vegas, US
A Peacock in Madrid, Spain
Jellyfish in a Singapore aquarium

Leaves on the ground at Kew Gardens, London
Fishing nets in Crete
Glass House in West Dean gardens, Chichester, UK
Trees at Mottisfont Abbey, UK
Lego installation in Singapore botanical gardens
And finally some blueberry leaves in our garden in the autumn …
… and at this time of year, in some parts of the world, the trees and shrubs will be giving a wonderful display of colour!
We hope that you enjoy this challenge and that it brightens this quarter of the year.

Wonderful colours.
There are some wonderful colours in your current piece of knitting Cathy – a colourscape if ever there was! Please do post the finished piece.
I think this will be fun. I had expected skyscape for some reason. I like this better. I have my 3rd quarter challenge underway. Better late than never. :O)
We were going to do skyscape Ann! But we like to keep everyone on their toes and we thought this would be fun.
Annie is still working on her cityscape so you’re not the only one.
What a wonderful idea for the last challenge. I too was thinking sky so you are keeping us on our toes 🙂 I love all your colorful photos, such a lot of inspiration there.
A skyscape could still be a colourscape couldn’t it?
Love the inspiring photos Lyn, you are definitely keeping us all on our toes.
Thank you Antje – all but one of the photos were taken by Annie – her camera is rarely idle and she must have over a million inspirational photos by now!
Great idea and wonderful photos for inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Marilyn!
OOOH! lovely Photos! want as cool idea. your rite this time of year in Ottawa can be spectacular (if it dosnt decide to rain or snow!) last nights sunset would even have been an inspirational pallet, lots of Peach tones. what to chose? what to chose?
A sunset would indeed make a great colourscape Jan, as would the autumnal trees. We’d love to see what you could come up with.
Lovely photos and ideas , thank you for the inspiration , I am now going to scroll through my many pics.
That’s why we love the challenges – we find them stimulating.
