The courses do complement each other and will all teach a variety of surface design techniques using a mixed media approach. All courses will be offered in a forum format with PDF’s and videos. A PDF will be available to learn about the use of the forum before the class begins so that students will have time to familiarize themselves with how to navigate the forum format.

Module 1 – Nuno Felting with Paper Fabric Lamination

Module 2 – Experimental Screen Printing on Felt

Module 3 – Printing, Stenciling, and Playing with Thickened Dye on Felt

Module 4 – Machine Stitching on Felt

Each module will be $45.00 (US) and all coursework is online and is not “live” so can be accessed at any time during the scheduled course. For more information about each module, please click on the module link above or see the drop down menu. Further module information will be added as the course dates are announced for each module.

All modules will have an extra two weeks time available on the class forum for accessing class information, completing and sharing homework assignments and instructor support. All payment will be invoiced with Paypal and the vendor name on the bill will be Green Enterprises. A supply list, a Forum Navigation PDF, and an Adding Photos to the Forum PDF will be attached to the Paypal invoice for your convenience.

  1. I have the techniques down pat for much of the above. Have been doing nuno felting, painting on wool, etc., for a long time, but not very pretty because my brain doesn’t have the design part for where to put a tree, how big to make it (scale), how to show light and contrast on the tree and so on. Perhaps all issues of perspective? I think I need a “principles of design course.” There may be one here and I’ll continue looking. I have a feeling I’m not alone in this? And, maybe perspective is something one’s brain has or doesn’t have? Thanks for listening

    1. Hi Barbara, I agree that it’s fairly easy to get techniques down but the designing part is much harder. We personally don’t have a design course at The Felting and Fiber Studio. I’m not sure where you live, but I take classes in LaConner, Washington (USA) and have learned so much about design from Gail Harker. She was a City and Guilds instructor in the UK and has since moved to the US and still gives wonderful courses which all contain some element of design.

She does online classes that included design. I’m not sure what is available right now but I would highly recommend her courses.

And I know that you aren’t alone in needing help with design, I know I certainly did. I have seen such improvement in my work since taking Gail’s courses. I do not think that perspective is in one person’s brain and not another’s. It all can be learned with practice and work.

If you’re in the UK, I would look up and see if there are any City and Guilds courses in your area.

      I hope that helps.

We would love to hear your thoughts!
