Lambs, Flowers, Some Finds and Taking Pictures.
Hi all, have you been waiting, wondering where my post is? I wish I could say it was because I was felting or playing with lambs, but in truth, I thought today was tomorrow. I will make you wait until the end to see the lambs.
I will start with my new bits for taking pictures. What I was looking for was an arm to attach to my tripod that would hold my camera. I could find expensive things for proper cameras, but nothing similar for a phone. I did find 2 very similar phone holders that would fit right onto the tripod. They do point down, but they do not stick out very far from the tripod.
This is what I have at the moment. It’s a light ring with a camera holder. I use it for Zoom. I don’t like the holder, it is hard to adjust it to level. The other thing is that it is too tall, two feet above where I am working. Not a great shot, but it wouldn’t show up against all the wool on the shelves
My tripod will go much shorter than this. And these are the 2 attachments for the phone. I haven’t had a moment to try them out, but I will report on them when I get a little time.
The other thing I bought was a stand that sticks out. It came with a light ring like the one above. The two gadgets above will stick screw onto it. This is the one I have the highest hope for. The angle is adjustable
Next are some things I picked up last weekend at a local village’s community garage sale. We only get to go to one garage sale a year. It’s the only one on before we start at the Farmers Market this Saturday. https://barrhavenfarmersmarket.com/
I only got a few things. First, I got a small hair straightener. That might seem strange as I have long, very straight hair, but I got it for ironing inside a book resist vessel. More on that when I try it out.
Next are some mini hanging Shapes. I’m not sure what you call them. I thought they would look nice with little felt plants in them, or I could make tiny pods and place them over the candles that came with them. They are about 4 inches/10 cm tall
Lastly, I picked up the long roll of interesting fibre. It is probably nylon. I will have to see if it will dye.
Now onto flowers. My apple tree is starting to flower, and the lilacs will be along soon.

And proud popa, Storm. Really, what he is wondering is why I don’t have treats.

Hope the photography stand works out well – we all need help with the frustration of getting the pictures.
Using hair straighteners is a great idea. Keep us posted on that.
The fabric is pretty and the main body looks to be holey enough to trap fibres?
Never get tired of looking at flowers – this is the best time of year isn’t it? So much fresh colour in the garden.
Your lambs are so sweet – have you had to take any into your house for looking after yet?
I have high hopes for the stands. but not much time now until school ends in June. the main body of the fabric is a mesh so it should felt in well. Spring is a beautiful time of year. No lambs in the house. We sold off most of the sheep last year. We kept 5 older and 5 younger ones so we may be done for the year.
Lots of interesting gadgets, Ann. I’d never have thought of using hair straighteners for ironing: what a great idea. Look forward hearing how that goes.
As for the lambs – so cute. I’ve been appreciating all the wild flowers that are currently blooming here. Along with lots of birds singing it makes it an optimistic-feeling time of year.
I am not sure where I heard about using a hair straightener, I am sure it was a felting group or blog. the wild flowers are starting her too. we get so many trilliums in the woods and there are dandelions everywhere and love to see them. Nice pops of yellow everywhere. It is an uplifting time of year.
All great snippets Ann. Love all the flowers, especially the violets. I have still got the decendants of a few plants which I dug up from a Spinney some 70 odd years ago, (when there was no law about doing that in the UK). Your haul from the Garage Sale looks interesting.
I’d be very interested to know how the straighteners do with ironing inside a vessel. I’m doing a Mandy Nash Book Resist workshop in early June and I have a pair of straighteners sitting in my box of “stuff” waiting to be got rid of (as I want to curl my hair not straighten it).
And I love the sheepy pictures. The expression on the face of the ewe in the first picture made me giggle as I scrolled down. How about a caption challenge for these pictures?

Violets are on of my favourite flowers. I just looked at the class your taking. It looks very interesting. I hope you can share the resist and then finished piece with us. You may get a chance to use the straitener before me . Take ta narrow one if you have it. Lambs and their moms can be very funny and its not easy to get them all looking a the camera at the same time.
I look forward to hearing how your phone stands work. I need a new setup too. I’m always taking flower photos so it’s nice to see what you have in your area. Love the lambs. What do sheep get for a treat?
I am hopeful one of the set ups will work. There are lots of flowers now, trillium are a big one in the woods at this time of year. Some of the sheep are very picky and only want grain. Storm likes bread but he was a bottle lamb so he knows about these things.

Lovely to hear and see that all your flowers are in their splendour. Ours are about 3-4 weeks ahead of yours, so we are rapidly moving onto early summer blooms. But we have only had one shower in 4-5 weeks….the plants are getting desperate for water.

I will keep you posted. I hope to get some time this week but maybe not until next week. You are always ahead of us. I still have a few tulips going. not enough water is hard unless you can water. they are very cute. they should move into a group pen soon
