I am Getting a New Drop Spindle.

I am Getting a New Drop Spindle.

There is a lady in my guild, Laurie, that make fabulous resin drop spindles.  I was very tempted at our guild sale to get one but couldn’t decide and most were top whorl.

You can see individual pictures on her etsy page. I really like the snowflakes and the purple bead flowers. Here is the link to her page. https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/AzureSkysHandcrafts?ref=l2-shopheader-name

I like a bottom whorl spindle so she is going to make me a custom one. Since she is making me one special I have asked her if she could embed a piece of my nuno felt in the whorl. She can, so I will be looking through my stash but may end up making a piece special.

I am afraid I have no new felting to share with everyone. With Christmas coming fast I haven’t had time do any felting. Right now my studio table is covered in presents waiting to get wrapped. No room for felting until that is done. Oh and the cleaning, and the decorating and the cooking ………..

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone. Hope you have a wonderful time with friends and family.

  1. Wonderful spindles! How original, and the idea of incorporatng a felted piece in it is superb. I hope you show us the photo when you get it.
Lately I haven’t been felting either. I’ve been to a couple of fairs and this afternoon there is another one. Then comes all the cooking and preparing for Christmas Eve.

  2. Really nice idea for a Christmas gift, the spindles. Too busy doing Christmas to be felting…you are not alone, Ann!

  3. What a lovely idea to incorporate some of your own felt into the whorl and a great present to yourself too! I’m looking at Turkish spindles for my next one…. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas

    1. I am hopping for great thing. I tried a Turkish and didn’t like it. they spin long but slow. Its to bad because I like the idea of a Turkish spindle.

  4. What a neat idea to incorporate your own Nuno felt into the resin! Enjoy your new toy! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  5. They are gorgeous, resin isn’t easy to use, I bet a spindle like those with your nuno in will look great, Ann 🙂

    1. It s just personal preference to which one you like. I learned on a bottom whorl and I like to see the wool on the spindle as I am spinning. I don’t have it yet. I will see her and give her my nuno felt at our guild meeting on Monday.

We'd love to hear your thoughts!
