One Week to the Show

One Week to the Show

With one week to my guild show (October 31, November 1 and 2) it must be  time to get ready. Time to put things together and make a few more hats. Last weekend my daughter painted spindles and here they are waiting to get put into kits.

The kits should be done already but when I started I discovered I was out of white wool. I have no idea how that happened. I had to order some quick. I put my wool order in with my friend Maureen at  Dreamspin Fibres. She got my order out asap and it arrived yesterday.

The white wool is the bottom half but you can’t just order white. Now I can put the kits together. she also sent me a colour cards for her wool. this is great because every computer shows the colours differently.

I was working on a hat as well. I will finish it today. I put decoration on the inside and outside. I will show you the finished hat next time.

  1. I know what you mean about needing actual samples – it’s impossible to see fibre colours accurately on screen. I’ve bought the sample books from World of Wool and Wingham Wool and they’ve proved invaluable.
You’ve been busy! The spindles all painted and hung to dry look pretty.
I like the decoration on the hat and I look forward to seeing it finished.

  2. I was just about to say, “I don’t see any white in that box”. 🙂 It is great to have the sample cards – much easier to order what you want. The hat decoration looks really nice so far. Good luck on your show.

    1. PS – Those colour cards are indeed a great idea – one of the people I order from has them as well, and it’s what I use to know what I want!

  3. I have a large notebook of color cards and code the ones I’ve purchased since I buy from several sources. It is invaluable.

I look forward to seing the finished hat. I wish I were taking the class. A hat is on my to do list! Good luck at the fair!

  4. Ooh, that box of wool looks nice, the colours match your spindles! 🙂 I keep little tufts of all the colours and breeds I buy. I hope you have a good show and sell lots!

    1. thanks Zed yes they match. but I also do contrasting wool with the spindles. I let people switch them too. I should be better at keeping samples.

We'd love to hear your thoughts!
